PMID: 34145166 PMCID: PMC8248252 DOI: 10.1097/MJT.0000000000001402 Abstract Background: Repurposed medicines may have a role against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The antiparasitic ivermectin, with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, has now been tested in numerous clinical trials. Areas of uncertainty: We assessed the [...]

Authors: Chamie-Quintero JJ, Hibberd JA, Scheim DE doi: https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.dv41ns1xr Abstract Objective. We aimed to identify mortality trends associated with COVID-19 deaths in Peru during April through November 2020, when mass treatments with ivermectin (IVM), a drug of Nobel Prize-honored distinction, were autonomously deployed at different times and to different extents in [...]

After COVID-19 emerged on U.S shores, providers began reviewing the emerging basic science, translational, and clinical data to identify potentially effective treatment options. In addition, a multitude of both novel and repurposed therapeutic agents were used empirically and studied within clinical trials.

Authors: Saha JK, Raihan J PMID: 33867777 PMCID: PMC8039806 DOI: 10.1007/s11224-021-01776-0 Abstract In this study, we have investigated the binding mechanism of two FDA-approved drugs (ivermectin and levosalbutamol) with the spike protein of SARs-CoV-2 using three different computational modeling techniques. Molecular docking results predict that ivermectin shows a large binding affinity for spike protein (− [...]

Authors: Bello M PMID: 33843474 PMCID: PMC8054936 DOI: 10.1080/07391102.2021.1911857 Abstract Ivermectin (IVM) is an FDA-approved drug that has shown antiviral activity against a wide variety of viruses in recent years. IVM inhibits the formation of the importin-α/β1 heterodimeric complex responsible for the translocation and replication of various viral species proteins. Also, IVM hampers SARS-CoV-2 replication [...]

The emergence of COVID-19 requires alternative treatments based on the reuse of drugs as a strategy to prevent the progression of the disease in patients infected with SARS-COV-2. The goal was to evaluate the use of ivermectin in mild stage outpatients to heal and / or reverse the progression of COVID-19 disease towards the development of moderate or severe stages.

Martin D. Hellwig a, Anabela Maia b https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijantimicag.2020.106248 Abstract As COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) continues to rapidly spread throughout the world, the incidence varies greatly among different countries. These differences raise the question whether nations with a lower incidence share any medical commonalities that could be used not only to explain that lower incidence [...]
