The Fight for Ohio HB 73

FLCCC Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Paul Marik testified before the Health Provider Services Committee of the Ohio State House of Representatives regarding House Bill 73 (HB 73). In June 2023 the FLCCC Alliance published a statement supporting HB 73 and its provisions supporting medical free speech and protecting doctors who prescribe repurposed drugs. The legislation passed the lower chamber but stalled when it was referred to the Senate.

Last week, Ohio Senator Steve Huffman, MD and Senate President Matt Huffman discarded the People’s version of HB 73 that passed the Ohio house with 75 bi-partisan votes. Instead, they passed a version that ensures pharmacists can continue to obstruct the filling of a doctor’s prescription and limit medical free speech. In the newly passed Senate version of HB 73, Ohio doctors will have to decide between giving their patients fully informed consent and treatment options, or potentially facing loss of licensure.

In the following video messages, Dr Marik and FLCCC Senior Fellows Dr. Kat Lindley and Dr. Scott Jensen strongly support medical freedom rights and safeguards of the People’s version of HB 73, and want to save the Health Provider provisions of the original bill so Ohio doctors can provide their patients genuine informed consent.

“We cannot have scientific debate, we cannot understand the issues, we cannot move forward, if physicians are censored.” – Dr. Paul Marik

HELP OHIO! FLCCC Senior Fellow Scott Jensen shares his support of the People’s version of Ohio House Bill 73.

FLCCC Senior Fellow Dr. Kat Lindley discusses the critical importance of freedom of speech for physicians and informed consent for patients. She also explains why Ohio must preserve the Health Provider provisions in HB 73.
