If Passed into Law, the Bill Would Protect the Rights of Doctors to Prescribe Repurposed Medications

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The FLCCC Alliance is greatly disappointed by the actions of the Ohio State Senate Health Committee in pulling House Bill 73 (HB73), which passed the Ohio House of Representatives last year with bipartisan support. The bill is now stalled with an unclear future unless the Senate Health Committee reverses course and allows the bill to be considered.

In April of last year, Paul Marik, M.D., co-founder and chief scientific officer of the FLCCC Alliance, testified before the Health Provider Services Committee of the Ohio State House in support of HB73. In his testimony, Dr. Marik discussed the importance of HB73 in protecting doctors when prescribing repurposed medications based on their knowledge and training and the necessity of practicing medicine without improper interference of state agencies following politically driven edicts.

“I am deeply disappointed that the senate committee will not even allow the bill to be considered and voted on by its members. I ask that the committee chair, Senator Huffman, reconsider and immediately reschedule the bill for a hearing,” said Dr. Marik. “Many of the intrusive policies made during the pandemic did nothing to protect public health while they degraded the practice of medicine by restricting patient access to lifesaving treatments. These policies will remain if the Ohio Senate does not have the courage to lead the nation and take immediate action to pass HB73.”

We, once again, acknowledge the vison and leadership of Representative Gross who introduced HB73 earlier last year. The FLCCC Alliance would also like to thank the Ohio House of Representatives for their bipartisan support to protect doctors and healthcare professionals from unwarranted policies that prevent patient access to repurposed medications.
