Dr. Liz Mumper says the dose of melatonin given to children depends on what you are using it for. She says if you are using it for sleep, .5-1.0 mg is a good place to start. She discusses dosage for use as an antioxidant, and other uses, where it is actually a much higher dose. She also recommends using long-acting form, or extended release, form of melatonin for use in children.
