Looking for facts about Long COVID? Despite the slow media response, there is a growing understanding of this very real illness. For a disease that affects millions, that’s just what you’d expect.

Just the Long COVID facts

The term “Long COVID” seems to pop-up in the mainstream news more and more each day. “is how NPR recently framed the discussion.

Newsweek pointed out the “suffering” caused by the syndrome, but then focused on “unregulated” treatments in last month’s “American Long COVID Suffers Preyed Upon by Unregulated Stem Cell Clinics.”

Both articles indicate legacy media’s growing comfort acknowledging the effects of Long COVID if not completely open to discussing all of the potential causes.

While the mainstream media and system medicine ignored and tiptoed around the subject of Long COVID for almost four years, FLCCC doctors diligently researched the syndrome and developed I-RECOVER: Long COVID Treatment protocol based on the facts on Long COVID.

What is Long COVID?

Those of you familiar with FLCCC’s work will know we spend a lot of time talking about it, treating it, and researching it.

Here’s how it’s described on our Long COVID protocol page:

Long COVID, a prolonged illness after COVID-19, may persist for months after the acute infection and affects at least 65 million individuals worldwide. A puzzling feature of long COVID is that initial disease severity is not an accurate predictor; long COVID frequently occurs in people who had mild-to-moderate COVID cases as well as in younger adults who did not require respiratory support or intensive care.

People with long COVID come in all shapes and sizes. So do their long term symptoms, which often include the following:

  • Brain fog
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of senses of smell and/or taste
  • A range of neurological symptoms
  • Chest pain
  • Heart rate issues
  • Blood pressure issues

People who have developed Long COVID often struggle to return to the same quality of life they before their SARS-CoV-2 infection. The unfortunate reality is that the average health care provider knows very little about how to prevent Long COVID, much less to treat it.

To make matters, Long COVID can worsen or develop conditions like postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS).

For Facts About Long COVID, start with Dr. Been

FLCCC physicians and advisors have been at the forefront of  identifying and treating Long COVID long before any “medical consensus” that Long COVID even existed.

Our own Dr. Mobeen Syed (Dr. Been) created a series, ‘Long (COVID) Story Short’ to address Long COVID and related issues.

Long Story Short is a podcast about Long COVID facts

The series is now up to 80 episodes and continues to spotlight the most current and cutting edge research on Long COVID and Long Vax — with Dr. Been’s knack for translating the highly technical into easy-to-understand segments punctuated with his trademark illustrations.

Although Long COVID symptoms can vary greatly for individual patients, most of the treatments offered have been singularly focused on…vaccination for COVID.

Long COVID Facts Appearing in The Media… Slowly

For years, many have been confused about the slow uptake when it comes to long COVID media coverage. Thankfully, that’s starting to change.

In September 2023 FLCCC Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pierre Kory, and FLCCC advisor, Dr. Jordan Vaughn, joined a live town hall webcast with Sharyl Attkisson to ask and answer the tough questions on Long COVID.

Dr. Vaughn’s practice and approach to Long COVID was also a spotlight episode of Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson titled The Clot Factor.
