Building A Better Brain with Dr. Suzanne Gazda

Dr. Suzanne Gazda, joined Jan Jeffcoat from The National Desk to discuss cognitive impairment in Long COVID.

Dr. Gazda, FLCCC Senior Fellow, Brain Health, identified six distinctive symptoms connecting Long COVID and cognitive decline.

  1. Fatigue: Persistent tiredness that doesn’t improve with rest.
  2. Headaches: Frequent or chronic headaches that may not respond well to typical pain relief methods.
  3. Brain Fog: Difficulty with focus, memory, and clarity of thought.
  4. Visuo-Spatial Difficulties: Challenges with understanding spatial relationships and handling three-dimensional objects.
  5. Constructional Apraxia: The inability to build, assemble, or draw objects, impacting daily tasks and professional activities.
  6. Psychomotor Slowing: Noted in a January 2024 study from The Lancet, this includes slower reaction times and decreased alertness.
