Controlled Opposition Presence on this forum (my question & comment)

My question is this: Has there been a previous post acknowledging the likelihood of there being “controlled opposition” active on this forum in order to make the forum users aware that some of the comments may be coming from a person whose intentions are to squelch interest in alternative therapies?

My comment is this: Users of this forum need to be aware that there is likely now, or possibly will be, “controlled opposition” present on our forum. The reason I say this is speculative (and mostly a hunch) but in my experience years ago using the forum/website called curezone.org, it was apparent that more than once in a while there would be a comment that “just didn’t sit right with me”. That’s not very scientific, I know, but most of us do believe we are, in addition to being scientific minded, we are spiritual beings who have INTUITION. Moreover, it is POSSIBLE that a universal truth is that if we are people who earnestly seek truth and goodness (over greed and power, etc.,) we innately have the ability to recognize truth when it is spoken and recognize deception when it is spoken. I believe that anyway.

That said, know that “controlled opposition” is people who act like they are like-minded as we are, people who are sharing and comparing notes on alternative medicine, but their motives are not to find cures but to distract, confuse, nay-say, etc., with the purpose of scattering our group. I BELIEVE these people are funded by big-pharma and their job is to disperse any talk of cures.

My observation: Comments/posts come in several types: A.) Genuine interest in alternative therapies and cures; B.) HELP ME and solve my problem; C.) Promotional postings (people trying to sell something); D.) Nay-sayers; E.) Controlled Opposition

It’s hard to know for sure who is Controlled Opposition but I would hope no one here would ever make the post, “You’re just controlled opposition!” because they may not be; who knows for sure. And the truth is that controlled opposition may serve a good purpose in dispersing those who might do damage to themselves experimenting with alternative therapies/cures.

The short of it is this: When pursuing alternative therapies and cures, we must be innocent as doves yet wise as serpents.

Great post! I would give a thumbs up icon if we had that option 😉

I know it’s a bit cumbersome, but you can do a thumbs up by looking at the posts in the feed tab rather than in discussions. 🙂

Interesting post. I hadn’t considered this before but your definition of the various types of posters sounds reasonable to me. I also think that the best course of action when encountering someone like that or any online troll is to just ignore them. I don’t give them the satisfaction of any type of response.

Excellent post and paraphrase of the scriptures.

It is the job of all truthseekers here and on any forum to realize this reality of which you speak. The forum admin. should be the leader in this regard.

Yes, it’s very common. As one of many who has moderated pages for libertarian groups, and subscribe to very many more, we see it very often where it’s obvious someone is there to be disruptive, or just try to turn the conversation, with falsehoods and such. We mostly get it from the republican party here in Ohio, but other states where democrats control the state, it comes more from them. We’re fairly certain they are paid by the party, but indirectly, to make it hard to follow.
It was extremely bad in this last election, with primarily those backing RFK or trump creating flat out lies about our candidate(s).
So, bottom line, yes, be prepared for falsehoods, out and out lies, as well as subversion any place that has forums like this. Falsebook (heh) is one of the worst.

Thanks for the post, its true that forums are often infiltrated, so please as a community go ahead and let us know if you spot someone or something that feels off.

I remember years ago being on a fibromyalgia board and a “Nana” person would often explain how her friend or relative reacted poorly to a supplement someone suggested. I sensed something odd, but then later also noticed a similar response on the Arthritis society board (different name). With some sleuthing I found that “nana” works 5 boards from the basement of her house and at the time made about $60,000 usd directing people back to drugs and away from alternative health. I think drug companies now probably use bots, not ‘nana’s, but it really made me realize how they infiltrate. She was one of the most popular board members on all the boards and had gold star rating on some. She was very trusted.

no one here would ever make the post, “You’re just controlled
opposition!” because they may not be; who knows for sure.

This is the biggest point I’d want to caution on. Forum sliders, controlled opposition, etc. are all very common in forums. Thankfully, our forum is more of a tight-knit community, and so we do see a lot less of it.

But I want to remind people that everyone in the community may be at a different part of this journey. Some may have been awakened for decades on these topics, others are only recently shocked and starting their journey.

For example, I’ve spoken with peers who are fully keen on Ivermectin, but then still strongly believed in the “For The Greater Good” benefits of fluoride in the water supply. They were not nefarious actors, we just disagreed and maybe someday we’ll end up agreeing on that topic.

Start with educating, politely, before going to “war” with those that may have very different views on these topics.

I also just want to point out and remind about our forum rules and moderation style.

      https://covid19criticalcare.com/forums/groups/public-forum/forum/discussion/community-rules/

We have removed very, very few posts or comments to date. We don’t remove opinions or stances we don’t agree with. We see that as an opportunity to educate instead.

The only items we’ve had to remove so far are very obvious spam or scam posts. People who came here to sell their goods or send you to questionable websites.

If you see content like that, please report it. We do act on those quickly and seriously.

I might be the contrarian here but as a free speech advocate I believe that all speech, whether good or bad, ugly or disruptive, agreeable or disagreeable, has value to the community. It is up to each person to analyze the speech for content and make their own decision about the validity of the arguments. As a society we have become lazy in the public sphere and have just taken the predominant narratives and accepted or rejected the matter at hand without making a critical evaluation of the content and background for the arguments contrary to our own beliefs. There is a world full of many divergent views and it is imperative that we consider what rings true and what does not. We do not grow our own knowledge without challenging our prior education in the form of alternative points of view. Freedom to speak openly is a core tenet of our society in the US as engrained in the 1st Amendment to our Constitution. The framers of our Amendments understood the value of speech and made sure it was a core principal of our country by including it as part of the very first values enumerated. Censorship is not a very good look for a society and it is a mark of group think that is antithetical to a free society.
