I often see folks using NAC for helping their glutathione levels. There was this study done in Sydney with a clever way to instantly increase glutathione levels though I don’t see much talk about it. During COVID, the US made the commercial product, Glyteine, take down statements which claimed Glyteine could help with COVID. Granted, they had no studies that proved it helps with COVID as no one had time to do such a study. Fact: COVID depletes the body of glutathione. Fact: Glyteine is effective at quickly raising glutathione levels (in minutes). If A = B and B = C…

I’d be very curious to hear what the medical professionals here have to say.

Here’s a bonus study on saving a person from oxidative damage after they have a stroke: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34824669/

Thank you for the link to the interesting research and information.

How does one get hold of γ-glutamylcysteine (γ-GC)? I am in Canada and can’t find a resource. I see that it is sold on Amazon.com but it turns out they don’t ship this product to Canada. If anyone knows how to get this in Canada, please share.

    Thank you!

Yes, it appears both United States and Canada are selection options at the checkout if you order direct: https://www.continualg.com/ .

Thank you! I just ordered some. Very expensive ($200 CA for one month supply) but hopefully it will help with my very low energy and recovery from upcoming hip surgery.

So instead of buying y-glutamylcysteine for $200CA I could have just bought L-glutathione for $40CA?

Both are useful. I mentioned l-glutamine because of the surgery.

Gamma-glutamylcysteine helps your body replenish glutathione. Glutathione is one of the two main antioxidants in our body. The other is melatonin. As we age our body naturally slows in its ability to produce glutathione. Glutathione is used by our body to clean up ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species). ROS occurs for many reasons and notably when our body is under attack. Some drugs are known deplete our body of glutathione, Tylenol for one.

Glutamine on the other hand is known to become depleted when we have a surgery, leaving us vulnerable.

Both of these give a boost to your immune response.

I’m not a medical professional but the above is my understanding from reading research articles.
