Possible changes to the Private group for Front Line Holistic Healers Network

<div>** Update from karen_flccc ** As of July 23 we have closed the private group. This will be the primary group for the Front Line Holistic Healers Network going forward ****</div>

The original organizer of this group has reached out and asked for help with managing the private version of the group.

Looking at the activity, there isn’t even a single discussion in this group. The public group is relatively active, though.

Our team doesn’t have the availability to manage specialty private groups, so our questions to this community are:

    1. Is there value in having a private group? Private groups come over from larger platforms, like Facebook, where being private has a different purpose. Often that purpose is to protect the group from Facebook itself. This is not the case here. You will not run into punishment or group closure because you posted Wrong Think. We also have Champions and PRO, for those who do want a more private space free of spammers or scammers (our public space doesn’t have too much of that, as we take those offenses very seriously).

    2. If this community still desires a private space, are there any in this community willing to work as moderators to do the vetting of each request as per the vision of the original owner? This is not a process we can automate and is rather burdensome.

My current lean is to close down the Private group, as it only has 7 members and no activity, and just let the public group be the focus. Making a more private version underneath Champions or PROs is also an option where you won’t need complex vetting rules and can allow anyone with those membership levels to auto-join your group, without worry of it being completely public facing.

    Please give your feedback below.

Eric, you bring up a good point. If there are only seven members and no dialogue since inception, then it seems reasonable to conclude that this group may remain inactive. When I first joined, the thought that prompted me was a situation I was facing as a sole practitioner in private practice standing against MSM. Those recent concerns had caused me to rethink the relationship I have with MSM. At that time, I was going to submit my working plan and collect ideas from others who may “have been there” already. But as it turns out, the situation quickly forced a definitive from me. And so I did not use this group as I originally had intended.

That’s a good use case for the larger PRO audience, as many would certainly have been there. And things posted in the PRO forum are not visible to the public on this platform. Only other medical professionals.

Hi Eric, Valerie here, the organizer of the group. yes, i know that there has been no discussion within the group. You see, i set up this group because my current group of about 20 active posters, is currently using Signal to post to each other. But we have been looking for a platform where we can discuss topics in a better format. 5 of us attended the recent FLCCC conference and we were excited for the prospect of moving the group here, keeping it private, but allowing folks, either by invitation or by by application, to join us as we saw fit. I have received plenty of applicants but i have not answered them because there is no way to reach them to find out if they are clinicians, what their professions are, what their goals are for the group, etc. So i have just stalled on accepting them into the group. I would be the person to accept or reject applicants. the problem is, when people apply, i need for them to fill out some type of application or to answer questions about themselves (which i outlined in my last email to you). Our desire was to keep the group private to like-minded clinical professionals. Can you help us to to set that up?

We provide that approval process for our medical pro only forums already, but don’t have the resources to also be the gatekeepers for custom private groups. Those need to be self-managed by that group.

We did provide an open forum where you could submit the answers to your questions here:

      https://covid19criticalcare.com/forums/groups/front-line-holistic-healers-network/forum/discussion/how-to-join-holistic-healers-private-network/

It doesn’t appear that the thread was monitored and those users invited.

For requesting to join, right now, it only supports a text box where you can enter anything. In the future, we may be able to enhance that to be a custom questionnaire per group. We continue to release big upgrades to communities every couple of weeks, but we are a small team and have to prioritize all of our site features.

If you want to DM users to ask them for those questions, if not answered in the public forum or the invite, then you will need to be on a paid plan that allows DMs. We don’t allow free accounts to DM as a spam/scam protection mechanism.

Another approach would be to move this to the paid PRO forum, where we do make sure they are a medical professional first. You can have a subgroup of that where any medical pro can join and know they are already vetted as such by us.

Any additional vetting would still be up to the group organizers.

Yes! I’m still interested, and I think others would be too, but difficult to gain momentum with so few participants. I am interested in a provider-only forum to discuss questions and discuss matters in a way that doesn’t have to be understandable to the public. Unfortunately, I’m in the midst of a VERY busy season and cannot handle the admin part. Once there is some more going, then others may realize the fruit of the commitment to stay engaged. Thanks!

Wouldn’t the provider-only forum we provide facilitate this?

yes exactly! that’s why I’m here! 🙂 but obviously have been busy and not checking this so often! probably the same issue so many other docs here have. 🙂

As a registered nurse working in occupational health in Southwestern New Hampshire, I am always looking for doctors/practices to refer patients. Dartmouth-Hitchcock has a death grip on healthcare in our area and patients have difficulty getting appointments. Injuries from the Covid shots are, of course, being ignored or attributed to “lifestyle”. The population I work with also pays a fortune for insurance and they do not have a lot of disposable income to spend on private care. If I had the resources and influence, I would set up a new clinic system independent of DHMC and the Boston hospitals.

I was very excited about this group. I see it as a way to collaborate with others as I am in MA and virtually somewhat isolated due to my views. I am also in solo practice and would enjoy the camaraderie and sharing of information on a more professional level. So I hope it stays. I will give some thought as to helping as an admin.

I am in Southwestern, NH and some of my occupational health patients are in North Central, MA. Always looking for providers who are not beholden to the Dartmouth/Hitchcock, UMass, MGH/Brigham systems to refer patients to. It can feel very lonesome sometime when one is outside of the mainstream groupthink!

I just noticed that this is a private group. Sorry, I thought it was the main holistic healers group. Not sure it’s necessary to have this one too. If so, I am happy to be the admin for it.

We have decided to close the private sub-group and make this the main group. Hopefully we’ll have more participation with this being the main group!

We have decided to close down the private subgroup due to the reasons that Eric explained above:

(Eric) “My current lean is to close down the Private group, as it only has 7 members and no activity, and just let the public group be the focus. Making a more private version underneath Champions or PROs is also an option where you won’t need complex vetting rules and can allow anyone with those membership levels to auto-join your group, without worry of it being completely public facing.”

If someone would like a more private version of this group, we can create a subgroup in the Champion or Professional level. Note, vetting for being a medical professional is only done for the Professional level of membership.

We’re hoping that simplifying things will result in more conversation & connections!
