Medicare authorization for Ivermectin
Hey– maybe I am out of the loop since I haven’t written a RX for Ivermectin in a while since I get a supply from overseas— BUT– I called in an Rx yesterday for Ivermectin and they told the pt that they either have to pay $300 for the script or get need prior authorization from Medicare?
I wrote this same pt an Rx for this well over a year ago (to Costco– same place) and there was not problem. Weird that they are NOW requiring prior authorization before filling.

The stuff cost about .04 cents to make it so there is some insanity. My insurance through medicare will not cover it either and its all out of pocket. Lots of bad actors but far better than the jab that is currently killing hundreds of people or thousands of people a week.

I have not encountered this but only send prescriptions to compounding pharmacies, never retail. $300 seems way too expensive. Unless it was high-dose for cancer, or a 90-day prescription? Try Specialty Pharmacy (can only ship within AL), The Medicine Counter in Chattanooga/Hixson TN (can ship to all 50 states), or Physicians Preference Pharmacy in Houston/Katy, TX (can ship to almost all states).

In the US, Ivermectin is considered second or third tier treatment for conditions such as scabies, parasitic conditions, or head lice. For treatment or prevention of COVID, it remains unapproved – despite the overwhelming evidence proving its efficacy!
As suggested, try a compounding pharmacy that ships out of state. In PA, I paid $50 for 4 capsules, 3 years ago. After a while, we quickly started using an international pharmacy for our Ivermectin supply.
International pharmacies should be considered serious long term options considering many of the commonly used medications in the US are manufactured overseas and packaged/distributed in the US anyways.
