Gavin Newsom is still mum on whether he’ll sign a bill put on his desk by the state legislature last month that would criminalize doctors for spreading “misinformation”. The deadline to sign is this Friday, September 30, and the clock is ticking. Writing in the Daily Caller, Dr. Paul Marik adds to the chorus of voices calling on Newsom to send this bill to the ash heap of history (where it belongs).

California’s legislature passed a bill that would allow the medical board to punish doctors who spread “misinformation” about COVID-19.

As physicians and scientists, we are trained to think critically, to question science, and use what we learn to treat our patients and advance the practice of medicine. AB 2098 is the reversal of these concepts that have formed the foundation of medicine for centuries. If AB 2098 becomes law, doctors will be threatened with disciplinary action for what is vaguely referred to in the bill as “disinformation.”
