Dr. Ivana Pavic, Senior Fellow, Pathology

Dr. Ivana Pavic, MD, PhD, is a renowned Croatian pathologist with extensive expertise in digestive, liver, and oral pathology. Born on July 30, 1974, in Osijek, Croatia, Dr. Pavic embarked on her medical journey by completing her primary and secondary education before being admitted to the School of Medicine in 1993. She later pursued a two-year sports management education in the Netherlands, reflecting her diverse interests and capabilities.

In 1998, Dr. Pavic served as the General Secretary of the Euro Cup in men’s sitting volleyball in Osijek, Croatia, earning the Croatian Olympic Committee Award for her outstanding organizational efforts. She has been actively involved in volleyball as a national and international referee since 1990, officiating numerous prestigious competitions, including European and World Championships and Paralympic Games.

Dr. Pavic began her residency at the University Department of Pathology, University Hospital Centre Sestre Milordnice, in 2006 and became a board-certified pathologist in 2010. She commenced her postgraduate studies in 2008 and completed her PhD program in 2015. Her academic contributions include serving as a Scientific Associate at the School of Dentistry, University of Zagreb, since 2015.

In addition to her medical career, Dr. Pavic has held leadership positions in sports organizations, including President of the Croatian Sitting Volleyball Federation and Secretary General of ParaVolley Europe. She played for the Croatian women’s national sitting volleyball team until 2018 and has been instrumental in developing and promoting the sport in Croatia and Europe.

Dr. Pavic has authored and co-authored several scientific articles, with some frequently cited in the literature. She has also been a key figure in numerous medical and sports projects, securing significant grants and contributing to the advancement of both fields.
